Scripture Reading, Luke
1: 26-33, 38
In the sixth month, the angel Gabriel was sent from God to a
town of Galilee called Nazareth, to a virgin betrothed to a man
named Joseph, of the house of David, and the virgin's name was
Mary. And coming to her he said: "Hail, favored one! The
Lord is with you." But she was greatly troubled at what
was said and pondered what sort of greeting this might be. Then
the angel said to her: "Do not be afraid, Mary, for you
have found favor with God. Behold, you will conceive in your
womb and bear a son, and you shall name him Jesus. He will be
great and will be called Son of the Most High, and the Lord God
will give him the throne of David his father, and he will rule
over the house of Jacob forever, and of his kingdom there will
be no end.". . . Mary said: "Behold, I am the handmaid
of the Lord. May it be done to me according to your word."
Then the angel departed from her. |

Virtue: Humility. If you wish, concentrate on the virtue associated
with this Mystery and ask God's grace to achieve it.
Holy Name:
Jesus incarnate. If you wish,
add the Holy Name phrase after the name of Jesus in each Hail
Mary of the decade, to remember the theme of the Mystery.
Our Father (The
Lord's Prayer)
V. Our Father, Who art in heaven,
hallowed be Thy name; Thy kingdom come; Thy will be done on earth
as it is in heaven.
R. Give us this day our daily bread; and forgive us our trespasses
as we forgive those who trespass against us; and lead us not
into temptation but deliver us from evil. Amen.
Hail Mary
V. Hail Mary, full of grace, the Lord is with thee; blessed are
thou among women, and blessed is the fruit of thy womb, Jesus.
R. Holy Mary, Mother of God, pray for us sinners, now and at
the hour of our death. Amen. |
Glory Be
V. Glory be to the Father, and to the Son, and to the Holy Spirit.
R. As it was in the beginning, is now, and ever shall be, world
without end. Amen.
Invocation: The Mexican Rosary finishes each decade with the
invocation of your choice. See examples in Quick
Guide to the Rosary: Mexico. The U.S. Rosary omits the
invocation or uses the "Fatima Prayer."
Fatima Prayer
V. O my Jesus, forgive us our sins.
R. Save us from the fires of hell. Lead all souls to heaven,
especially those in most need of Thy mercy.
Hymn: In Mexico it is customary to sing two or three verses
of a hymn after each decade. See Quick
Guide to the Rosary: Mexico. In general the U.S. Rosary
does not include hymns.
