Scripture Reading, John
19: 1-8
Then Pilate took Jesus and had him scourged. And the soldiers
wove a crown out of thorns and placed it on his head, and clothed
him in a purple cloak, and they came to him and said, "Hail,
King of the Jews!" And they struck him repeatedly. Once
more Pilate went out and said to them: "Look, I am bringing
him out to you, so that you may know that I find no guilt in
him." So Jesus came out, wearing the crown of thorns and
the purple cloak. And he said to them, "Behold, the man!"
When the chief priests and the guards saw him they cried out,
"Crucify him, crucify him!" Pilate said to them, "Take
him yourselves and crucify him. I find no guilt in him."
The Jews answered, "We have a law, and according to that
law he ought to die, because he made himself the Son of God."
Now when Pilate heard this statement, he became even more afraid,

Virtue: Courage. If you wish, concentrate on the virtue associated
with this Mystery and ask God's grace to achieve it.
Holy Name:
Jesus crowned with thorns.
If you wish, add the Holy Name phrase after the name of Jesus
in each Hail Mary of the decade, to remember the theme of the
Mystery.
Our Father (The
Lord's Prayer)
V. Our Father, Who art in heaven,
hallowed be Thy name; Thy kingdom come; Thy will be done on earth
as it is in heaven.
R. Give us this day our daily bread; and forgive us our trespasses
as we forgive those who trespass against us; and lead us not
into temptation but deliver us from evil. Amen.
Hail Mary
V. Hail Mary, full of grace, the Lord is with thee; blessed are
thou among women, and blessed is the fruit of thy womb, Jesus.
R. Holy Mary, Mother of God, pray for us sinners, now and at
the hour of our death. Amen. |
Glory Be
V. Glory be to the Father, and to the Son, and to the Holy Spirit.
R. As it was in the beginning, is now, and ever shall be, world
without end. Amen.
Invocation: The Mexican Rosary finishes each decade with the
invocation of your choice. See examples in Quick
Guide to the Rosary: Mexico. The U.S. Rosary omits the
invocation or uses the "Fatima Prayer."
Fatima Prayer
V. O my Jesus, forgive us our sins.
R. Save us from the fires of hell. Lead all souls to heaven,
especially those in most need of Thy mercy.
Hymn: In Mexico it is customary to sing two or three verses
of a hymn after each decade. See Quick
Guide to the Rosary: Mexico. In general the U.S. Rosary
does not include hymns.
