A decade equals one "Our Father"
("The Lord's Prayer") and ten repetitions of the "Hail Mary."
The worshiper recites one decade for each Mystery. These are
the only obligatory prayers of the Holy Rosary, although
by tradition each decade ends with the "Glory
Be." |
|
All other prayers associated with the Rosary are actually optional,
based on local custom and personal preference. For more information,
see the Quick Guides in the Rosary
Prayer Book. |
Our Father (The Lord's
Prayer)
V. Our Father, Who art in heaven,
hallowed be Thy name; Thy kingdom come; Thy will be done on earth
as it is in heaven.
R. Give us this day our daily bread; and forgive us our trespasses
as we forgive those who trespass against us; and lead us not
into temptation but deliver us from evil. Amen.
Hail Mary
V. Hail Mary, full of grace, the Lord is with thee; blessed are
thou among women, and blessed is the fruit of thy womb, Jesus.
R. Holy Mary, Mother of God, pray for us sinners, now and at
the hour of our death. Amen. |
Glory Be
V. Glory be to the Father, and to the Son, and to the Holy Spirit.
R. As it was in the beginning, is now, and ever shall be, world
without end. Amen.
