QUICK GUIDE TO THE
ROSARY: U.S.A. |
According to customs in the
United States,
and approved by ecclesiastical authorities.
1. Initial Prayers: "Sign
of the Cross", while making the Sign of the Cross, "Apostles Creed", then "Our Father" once, the"Hail Mary" three times (for the
intentions of the Pope), and the "Glory
Be", once.
2. Mysteries: Announce the (First) Mystery. Choose Joyful, Luminous,
Sorrowful, or Glorious
Mysteries, depending on the day of the week and the liturgical
season, or personal preference. (The Luminous
Mysteries are new, announced by Pope John Paul II on October
16, 2002).
3. Decade Prayers: While meditating on the Mystery,
say the "Our Father"
once, the"Hail Mary" ten
times, and the "Glory Be"
once.
4. Invocation: End each decade with the "Fatima
Prayer."
5. Second, Third, Fourth and Fifth Mysteries: Repeat
steps 2 through 4.
6. Concluding Prayers: After completing the Mysteries,
conclude the Rosary with "Hail,
Holy Queen", "O God,
Whose Only-Begotten Son" and, finally, "Sign
of the Cross", while making the Sign of the Cross.
