The Season of the Dead in Totimehuacán spans from
October 28 through November 2. |

The principal ways of honoring the deceased are placing an offering
(ofrenda) on the family altar and decorating the grave. |

October 28 is Día
de los Accidentados, the day to remember those who died as
the result of accidents, including victims of homicides. |
|
October 29 is Día
de los No Bautizados, also known as Día de los
Limbos, the day to remember babies who died before being
baptized. |
|
|
|
Throughout the season children go calaveriando, visiting
from house to house at night, asking for coins to fill their
calavera ("skull") sack. |
|
|
October 30: There are no
special observances scheduled on this day. |
|
October 31 is Día
de Niños Difuntos Bautizados, the day to remember
children who died after receiving Baptism. |
|
November 1 is Todos Santos,
All Saints Day, an international feast day of the Roman Catholic
Church. |
|
November 2 is All Souls Day,
known in Mexico as Día de Muertos (Day of the Dead),
the day to remember all the deceased. It is also known as Día
de los Fieles Difuntos, Day of the Faithfully Departed. |
